Quality Policy & Warranty

Effective Date: October 6, 2026

Last Updated: October 6, 2026

Medizra is committed to engineering surgical, dental, and veterinary instruments that deliver uncompromised clinical safety, tactile balance, and metallurgical integrity. This Quality Policy & Warranty outlines the quality control protocols, material standards, and manufacturer warranty terms that apply to all instruments manufactured at our Sialkot facility.

1. Metallurgical & Raw Material Standards

Every instrument fabricated by Medizra starts with certified, medical-grade alloys selected specifically for the mechanical demands of its procedural category:

  • Martensitic Stainless Steels (AISI 410, 420A/B/C): Utilized for cutting shears, osteotomes, rongeurs, and grasping forceps requiring high hardenability, edge retention, and fatigue resistance.
  • Austenitic Stainless Steels (AISI 304, 316/316L): Utilized for retractors, speculums, cannulas, and hollowware where maximum corrosion resistance and malleability are paramount.
  • Tungsten Carbide (TC) Inlays: High-density sintered carbide inserts silver-soldered to needle holder jaws and scissor cutting edges, identified by gold-plated finger rings or shanks.
  • Traceability: Heat-melt mill certificates (Material Test Certificates – MTC) are maintained for every incoming steel shipment to confirm chemical composition benchmarks against ASTM and ISO 7153-1 standards.

2. Multi-Stage Quality Assurance Protocol

Instruments pass through five quality inspection checkpoints prior to packaging and dispatch:

  1. Dimensional & Tolerance Verification: Base forgings and CNC wire-cut blanks are verified against engineering blueprints using calibrated digital micrometers and optical profile comparators (maintaining tolerances within $\pm 0.02\text{ mm}$).
  2. Hardness Testing (Rockwell C): Calibrated HRC hardness testing confirms heat-treatment uniformity:
    • Cutting Blades (Scissors, Cutters): 50–58 HRC
    • Forceps, Clamps & Needle Holders: 42–48 HRC
    • Tungsten Carbide Inserts: 80–85 HRA
  3. Joint & Ratchet Alignment: Manual inspection of box-locks, screw hinges, and ratchet teeth to ensure smooth actuation without lateral play, catching, or premature springing.
  4. Ultrasonic Cleaning & Chemical Passivation: Complete elimination of machining residues and free surface iron via multi-stage nitric or citric acid passivation baths (ASTM A967 protocol), establishing a uniform, corrosion-resistant chromium-oxide passive layer.
  5. Corrosion Resistance Testing: Mandatory batch boil testing (submersion in boiling distilled water for 30 minutes followed by a 24-hour drying period) and copper-sulfate testing to verify zero surface corrosion or pitting.

3. Limited Manufacturer Warranty

Medizra provides a two (2) year limited manufacturer warranty from the date of commercial invoice on all reusable stainless steel surgical instruments.

  • Warranty Coverage: This warranty covers defects in raw material integrity and manufacturing workmanship, including:
    • Structural breakage or cracking of steel under standard procedural load.
    • Premature mechanical failure of box-locks, ratchets, or joint rivets.
    • Delamination or detachment of Tungsten Carbide inserts under approved clinical usage.
    • Corrosion, pitting, or rust occurring despite strict adherence to the Medizra Instructions for Use (IFU) and sterilization guidelines.

4. Warranty Exclusions

This warranty strictly covers manufacturing and material defects and does not apply to:

  • Normal Wear & Tear: Gradual dulling of cutting edges, normal surface micro-abrasions, or gradual wear of grip serrations occurring through routine procedural use.
  • Misuse & Improper Application: Using delicate instruments (e.g., iris scissors, micro-forceps) for heavy cutting or bone handling, or applying mechanical force beyond standard design intent.
  • Chemical & Thermal Abuse: Corrosion, discoloration, or pitting caused by:
    • Exposure to bleach, hypochlorites, iodine solutions, household detergents, or acidic chemicals ($pH < 7.0$ or $> 8.5$).
    • Skipping the autoclave drying cycle, resulting in moisture resting on hot steel.
    • Failure to use distilled or demineralized water in steam autoclaves.
  • Unauthorized Modification: Instruments sharpened, bent, re-ground, laser-marked, or repaired by unauthorized third-party technicians.

5. Warranty Claims & Replacement Procedure

Distributors and procurement clients must follow these steps to file a warranty claim:

  1. Submit Documentation: Email info@medizra.com with the formal Claim Notification including:
    • Clear, high-resolution photographs and videos of the affected instrument and its etched lot/batch code.
    • Proforma invoice or commercial invoice reference number.
    • Description of the failure and procedural application context.
  2. Evaluation: Our quality engineering team assesses the documentation within five (5) business days. For complex evaluations, a physical sample may be requested for laboratory metallographic analysis.
  3. Claim Settlement: Upon verification of a manufacturing non-conformance, Medizra will, at its option:
    • Provide a direct replacement instrument dispatched in the subsequent batch.
    • Issue a full credit note for the defective piece against open or upcoming invoices.
    • Dispatch urgent replacements via air express if the failure impacts critical clinical operations.
